Scoreboard, lineups and play-by-play. Three screens, one swipe apart.

01

The scoreboard

One tap puts two points up, the next button puts three. The clock, the quarter and both teams' fouls sit on the same screen, and Undo is never more than a tap away.

02

Lineups and subs

Who is on court, who is waiting, and a rotation timer that makes sure nobody sits out the whole night.

03

Play by play

Every basket, foul and substitution in the order it happened, credited to the player who made it.

Made for Apple

Not ported.
Built here

Hoops is written in Swift for iOS and watchOS, and nowhere else. That buys the details below.

The app's own numerals

Every score, clock and jersey number is set in DIN Condensed Bold, the face that ships with iOS. On an Apple device this page is using it too.

Haptics you can score by

A light tap for a basket, a firmer one for a foul, a distinct pattern when the clock runs out, plus a bell. You can keep score with your eyes on the court.

Nine kit colours

Name both squads and dress them. The whole app takes on the two colours you picked, scoreboard, timeline, recap and share card.

Turn it sideways

Rotate the phone and the scoreboard spreads across the full width, so it still reads when the phone is propped up on the bench.

Private by design

No account, no advertising, no analytics. Games and players sync through your own iCloud, which means Blacknosaur Labs cannot read them either.

Fourteen languages

The app and this page are both translated into fourteen languages, Arabic included, right to left.

Apple Watch

Run the game
from your wrist

Score from the Watch while the phone stays in your bag. iCloud keeps games and players in step across the Apple devices you are already signed into.

  • Score and clock on the wrist
  • Private iCloud sync
  • No signal required

Questions

Before you
download

Is Hoops really free?

Yes. The scoreboard, clock, periods, team fouls, possession and timeouts cost nothing and are not time-limited. Pro adds the parts that remember the season.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is bought once and stays unlocked. Restore it on any device signed into the same Apple Account, at no further charge.

Does it work in a gym with no signal?

Yes. Games run entirely on the device. iCloud catches up on its own once you are back within range.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. The Watch app is a companion for scoring from your wrist. Everything works on an iPhone by itself.

What do you collect about me?

Nothing. There is no account, no advertising and no third-party tracking. Games and players sync through your own private iCloud, which Blacknosaur Labs cannot read.

Can more than one person keep score?

iCloud syncs your games between your own Apple devices, so you can start on the phone and carry on from the Watch. It is not a shared scoreboard between two different people.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone on iOS 17 or later, and Apple Watch on watchOS 10 or later.
